No GP of your own

No GP here? It depends on the service.

The HSE says the GP out-of-hours service is for all ages and does not say you need your own GP. Some services do: NEDOC asks unregistered patients to register with a member GP first, and TLC Doc and DubDoc see patients of member practices only. Others charge more if your GP is not a member. Caredoc sees EHIC visitors free.

Finding a GP

Search
The HSE lists GP practices by area: find a GP.
Medical card
If your chosen GP is not on the HSE’s list, they might not be taking new patients; try another GP in your area. If you are applying for a medical card and 3 GPs have declined you, contact the HSE and it will assign you a GP.
Children under 8
The under-8 GP visit card covers out-of-hours urgent GP care. Your child must live in Ireland and intend to live here for at least a year.
